In the 2010-2011 academic year particle physicist Prof. Sarah Demers@Yale co-developed and began co-teaching the course "Physics of Dance" at Yale University with dancer and choreographer Emily Coates, who directs the Dance Studies curriculum at Yale.

They have taught the course three times over the years, with the next teaching scheduled for the fall of 2017.

Sarah will address some examples of the benefits they have found by teaching physics in the context of dance. She will describe how their philosophy of interdisciplinarity, which takes dance and physics as equal partners in intellectual, creative and research potential, has influenced their course and moved their collaboration beyond the classroom. In the end Sarah will show a short art/science video they created that pairs the Higgs boson with dance.
