The Disa Prize

The Disa Prize is founded by Uppsala University and Studentbokhandeln in Uppsala to promote popular scientific writing and was first awarded in 2001.

The Disa Prize of 2016

Bengt Gustafsson, Professor Emeritus of theoretical astrophysics at Uppsala University, was awarded the Disa Prize of 2016. The motivation for the prize of 2016:

“Bengt Gustafsson is awarded the Disa Prize of 2016 for his ability to make the apparently incomprehensible comprehensible. His book Svarta hål with its exquisite metaphors and pedagogical pirouettes invites to an entertaining – and educating – exploration through the history of science from Newton to Einstein to contemporary astrophysics, all of the time with the black holes of the Universe in focus.”

The Disa Prize of 2005

Ulf Danielsson, Professor of theoretical physics at Uppsala University, was awarded the Disa Prize of 2005.
