The Distinguished Teaching Award
Uppsala University confers annual awards for outstanding accomplishments in undergraduate education in accordance with special nomination categories. The awards are conferred at the Professorial Inauguration Ceremony.
The Distinguished Teaching Award of 2019
Ali Al-Adili, researcher at Applied Nuclear Physics, was awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award of 2019 within the field mathematics, science and technology.
Ali Al-Adili has inspired and motivated his students in a way few lecturers has been able to. With his remarkable pedagogical skills he has been able to explain complex course material in a structured, methodical way and is not satisfied until all students understands. By learning the names of his students and get acquainted with the students' study situation Ali creates a good foundation for mutual understanding and respect between lecturer and student.
The Distinguished Teaching Award of 2016
Lecturer Johan Larsson at the Department of Physics and Astronomy was awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award of 2016 within the field mathematics, science and technology.
Johan Larsson is an experienced teacher who always develops his education. In his education clear goals, stimulating everyday connections, creative models and exciting experiments appear. With a broad repertoire of education forms Johan aims to meet all students where they are and encourage their education. He shares liberally his inspiration, knowledge of physics and pedagogical advice to students and fellow teachers.
The Distinguished Teaching Award of 2013
Lecturer Susanne Mirbt at the Department of Physics and Astronomy was awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award of 2013 within the field mathematics, science and technology.
Susanne Mirbt's outstanding way to teach mathematics cherishes the curiosity of the students and catches everybody's interest. She is structured and well articulated when she, both thoroughly and multifaceted, clears out mathematical concepts. She opens new doors to the unknown depths and widths of mathematics, both for the students who are struggling and those who with ease embrace mathematics. With phenomenal compassion and understanding of the needs of all individuals she makes the students accomplish more and she listens carefully to everybody's questions.
The Distinguished Teaching Award of 2012
Staffan Andersson, Lecturer, was awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award of 2012 within the field mathematics, science and technology.
Staffan Andersson's inspired and solid leadership promotes pedagogical developments on both department and faculty level. In his work he involves both colleagues and students and his results are actively spread both locally within the university and nationally at college educational conferences. Staffan takes in his role as program manager responsibility for that all students will feel welcome and seen in his role at the university, something that according to his own didactic research has a great significance for retention. Staffan's own education rests on a scientific foundation and his engagement and innovation both inside and outside the classroom is contagious to the students!
